Abstract

Study aim: Evaluation of  the mortality prognosis in sepsis shock patient using SOFA score, Lactat concentration and Procalcitonin.

Subjects and method: descriptive study of 175 sepsis shock cases admitted to Tropical center- Nghe An Friendship general hospital.

Result: The fatality rate of patients caused by sepsis shock was 64.75%. The average SOFA score of death group was 11.6 ±2.8, SOFA score is a valued reference in mortality prognosis due to sepsis shock. The average concentration of lactat in death group or go-home-to-die group was 8.6± 4.7. The cut-off point of lactat concentration in mortality prognosis was 7.83 with the sensitivity of 50.0% and the specificity of 68.4%. The average concentration of procalcitonin in death group or go-home-to-die group was 67 ±37.1.

Conclusion: The SOFA score had great value in mortality prognosis of death/severe patients due to sepsis shock. The lactat concentration at the diagnose time of sepsis shock had an average prognosis value. The PCT concentraion in this study did not show a significant correlation with mortality prognosis.
