NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF PATIENTS WITH CIRRHOSIS TREATED AT THE NATIONAL HOSPITAL FOR TROPICAL DISEASES IN 2025

Objectives: To describe the nutritional status of in-patients with cirrhosis at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in 2025.
Subjects and method: 92 study subjects were weighed and interviewed using a pre-designed questionnaire. Nutritional status was assessed using the subjective global assessment SGA (small for gestational age) method and serum Albumin quantification.
Results: According to SGA, the rate of malnutrition in cirrhosis patients according to the SGA index was 71.2%, of which 55.9% were mildly/moderately malnourished and 15.3% were severely malnourished.
According to serum Albumin quantification, the rate of patients with malnutrition is 71.2%. The rate of malnutrition in patients with cirrhosis at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases is relatively high.
Conclusions: Patients with cirrhosis need to be assessed for nutritional risk using the SGA tool and nutritional counseling should be enhanced.
