KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE TOWARDS THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AMONG STUDENTS IN HANOI MEDICAL UNIVERSITY 2020

Abstract

As the global threat of the COVID-19 pandemic continues, Vietnam is also facing with this pandemic. Medical students are volunteers for epidemic prevention and control campaigns who are at high risk of exposure and infection with SARS-CoV-2. Therefore, it is necessary for medical students to gain knowledge and have a positive attitude toward the COVID-19 pandemic.


Objectives: 1. Describe the knowledge and attitudes about the acute respiratory infection COVID-19 among students at Hanoi Medical University in 2020. 2. Analyze some factors affecting knowledge and attitudes Degree of acute respiratory infection COVID-19 among students of Hanoi Medical University in 2020.


Subjects and method: A cross-sectional study on 361 students of Hanoi Medical University was implemented in 2020.


Results and conclusions: showed that only 67.59% of students had good knowledge about the COVID-19 pandemic.The majority of students have a positive attitude towards the COVID-19 epidemic (95.01%). Knowledge of students of General Doctor is better than students of Bachelor of Public Health (OR=0.40; 95% CI=0.19 – 0.85). Factors related to students' knowledge, attitudes and practices about COVID-19 include majors and whether or not their family members working in the medical field.
