Abstract

Q fever is a zoonotic disease (Zoonose). The causative agent is the bacterium Coxiella burnetii of the Rickettsiae family caused by the vector of disease, mainly ticks. People get infected by breathing in dust that has been contaminated by infected animal feces, urine, milk, and birth products that contain Coxiella burnetii. Q fever has diverse clinical manifestations with many different clinical forms. Primary infection is called acute Q fever when it has clinical manifestations. In a small number of cases, bacteria can escape from immune control and cause persistent focalized infections (chronic Q fever) that can lead to death.
