DESCRIPTION OF THE SITUATION IN PREVENTION OF MOTHER TO CHILD TO HIV TRANSMISSION IN HANOI (2018 - 2019)

Abstract

The research describes the situation in Prevention of mother - to - child HIV transmission (PMTCT). This study was done on 150 pregnant women with HIV who live in Hanoi and gave birth in 07 obstetric centres throughout the city from 03/2018 to 08/2019. We started to collect data and information from obstetric clinics and then followed the track of patients in the records came to out-patient clinics (OPC) to complete the research questionaires. The result: (1) 34.7% detected HIV-infection during preg nancy and 21.3% during labour; (2) 29.3% lost to followup (L2FU); (3) 97.3% mothers and 99.3% of their children have access to ARV, however the antiretroviral regimen for pregnant women with HIV and infants born to HIV - positive women was not up - to - date with the newest guideline of the Vietnamese Ministry of Health; (4) 26.6% children had PCR test results, most of them (about 60%) took the test over 6 - week - old and 2 out of 40 children had positive PCR results.
