Abstract
With the purpose to decrease the mortality of severe dengue hemorrhagic fever, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended to intensive treatment for DHF patients with warning sign.
Objectives: To determine the prognostic factors for severe dengue hemorrhagic fever.
Methods: We conducted a study to compared a pair 27 severe DHF patients and a pair of 81 patients in controlgroup including 27 DHF patients with warning signs and 54 DHF patients.
Results: Althought intensive treatment for DHF patients with warning sign,the prognostic factors for severe DHF were abdominal pain (OR: 3.7; CI: 1.1 - 12.7), platelet ≤ 50.000G/L (OR: 5.7; CI: 1. 2 - 27.5), AST > 500U/l (OR: 10,2; CI: 1.1 - 93.0), ALT > 250U/l (OR: 4.5; CI: 1.05 - 19.0) and APTT > 44 seconds (OR: 90.7;
CI: 1.8 - 4691.1).
Conclusion: Need to note the prognostic factors in severe DHF patients for timely treatment to reduce the risk of death.
