A CASE OF CESAREAN SECTION ON A PREGNANT WOMEN WITH DENGUE HEMORRHAGIC FEVER
Main Article Content
Abstract
Dengue Hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by the Dengue virus. It is estimated that there are 500,000 hospitalizations every year. Vietnam has successfully controlled the death rate below 1/1,000. Dengue hemorrhagic fever during pregnancy carries a risk of serious infection and increases the
risk of hemorrhage, premature birth, oligohydramnios, fetal death and thrombocytopenia in the newborn.
At the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases, we successfully performed a cesarean section on a patient with dengue fever who had warning signs and was in labor at 35 weeks gestation with very low platelets.
Clinical case summary: 28 year old female patient. Hanoi. Hospitalized with diagnosis of first pregnancy at 35 weeks (para 0000)/DHF with warning signs. Symptoms: fever; preeclampsia 5 days ago.
Test: GOT: 560U/L; GPT: 133 U/L, CRP 153.1 mg/L, NS1(+), IgM(-), IgG(-), TC 10 x 109/L. Rotem: decreased coagulation due to thrombocytopenia. The patient was scheduled for emergency surgery for the reason of premature labor, premature birth/35-week pregnancy, 1st premature labor/pre-eclampsia/dengue fever with warning signs. Postoperative day 1 showed signs of bleeding from the surgical wound and was re-operated to stop the bleeding. The patient received an interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary consultation and was stable, discharged after nearly 1 month of intensive treatment..
