Abstract
Objective: To identify the ratio of Klebsiella pneumoniae and level of antibiotic resistance of Klebsiella pneumoniaestrains isolated at E Hospital during 2018-2020.
Subjects and methods: Klebsiella pneumoniae strains were isolated from the samples at E hospital from January 2018 to December 2020 usingcross-sectional study.
Results and conclusions: Klebsiella pneumoniae was isolated the most from blood samples (31.5%), followed by sputum/bronchoalveolar lavage samples (27.2%), pus/wound fluid samples (20.8%). Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated at Intensive Care Unit (42.6%), the Department of surgery (17.3%), the Cardiovascular center (14%). The ratio of ESBL production of Klebsiella pneumoniae was 29.9%. In blood samples, Klebsiella pneumoniae resistance to cephalosporin and quinolon varied from 44.7 % to 53.3%; aztreonam, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole from 33.3% to 51.5%; sensitivity to carbapenemfrom 75.7% to 78.9%. Respiration samples Klebsiella pneumoniae: resistance to trimethroprim/sulfamethoxazole 54.7%; aztreonam 50.0%; resistance to cephalosporin groupfrom 62.0% to 65.7%; quinolon group from 60.0% to 75.0%; sensitivity to carbapenem from 63.0% to 72.2%; amikacin 64.0%. Rate of ESBL production was 29.9%. ESBL-producing strains were more resistant than non-ESBL-production strains to most currently avaiable antibiotics (p<0,001). The rate of MDR type and XDR type was 34.2% and 29.4%.
