THE STATUS OF ACQUIRED URINARY TRACT INFECTION ON COMATOSE PATIENTS WITH URINARY CATHETERS TREATED AT EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

Abstract
Objectives: Describe the status of acquired urinary tract infections (UTI) in comatose patients with urinary catheters in the Emergency Department in 2021. Analyze the results of care for patients with UTI and some related factors.
Subjects and methods: A prospective cross-sectional descriptive study on 150 patients from January 2021 to December 2021 at the Emergency Department of the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
Results and conclusions: the rate of patients with urinary tract infections acquired during hospital stay was 13.3%..Urinary circulation time < 14 days the rate of UTI was 38.7% and over 14 days was 61. 3%..The highest percentage of bacteria causing urinary tract infections is S. Aureus with 6.7%; then K. Pneumoniae accounted for 2.1%. Some factors related to UTI: The study showed age, gender, cardiovascular disease, urinary circulation time, UTI status, UTI prevention counseling activities. , advice on ulcer prevention and patient satisfaction are related to outcomes with p < 0.05.
