SURVEY OF DEMAND FOR URGENT TRAINING ON CLINICAL MANAGEMENT OF COVID-19

Abstract

Background: Urgent training on COVID-19 management for health care workers is important in COVID-19 pandemic.


Objectives: This survey identified neccessity level of each proposed training topic according to clinicians, nurses and senior medical students’ opinions.


Subjects and methods: Participants rated each proposed item according to its importance for a 3 day training course.


Results: 2074 healthcare workers responded. Clinicians accounted for 87.22% of participants. 5.72% of participants had experience in managing COVID-19 patients. All proposed training topics were rated as either important or very important by more than 70% of participants. Topics related to personal protective equipment application and infection control are among the most concerned items rated by all 3 participant groups. Therapeutics including anticoagulant and immunosuppressant drugs, and respiratory supporting are another most concerned items of clician group. Screening, assessment, early recognition of worsening patients, and care of ventilated patients are most concerned issues of nurses and senior medical students.


Conclusions: All proposed training topics were rated as important or very important by the majority of participated healthcare workers. These topics could be used to develop content for urgent training courses on clinical management of COVID-19.
