Abstract

Objectives: Characteristics of some coagulation tests and Rotem tests in cirrhosis patients treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases (NHTD).
Subjects and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive and retrospective study. 136 cirrhosis patients hospitalized at NHTD from 2019 to 2022 were enrolled in this study.
Results: 136 patients had an average age of 50.9 ± 11.5 years; the male was 78%; 91.2 % of patients were Child-Pugh classification C. In Conventional coagulation tests (CCTs): Patients with prolonged PT were 97.1%; 89.1% of patients had prolonged aPTT; thrombocytopenia rate was 87.5%; 87.1% of patients had decreased fibrinogen. In ROTEM tests: 92.6% of patients had hypocoagulation; the rate of maximum clot amplitude (MCF) reduction in INTEM was 89.7% and in EXTEM it was 81.6%; no cases showed
increased MCF in INTEM and EXTEM; the rate of decreased MCF-FIBTEM was 61.1%, and there was only 1 case of MCF-FIBTEM increased.
Conclusions: The prevalence of coagulopathy in cirrhosis patients was very high, mostly hypocoagulation. ROTEM could evaluated effectively coagulopathy in cirrhosis patients.
